The primary goal of this position is to work alongside Andrew on assignment days, lighten his load so he can focus on crafting revealing images and fantastic outcomes for his clients, or in his artistic endeavours – think of you as his extra eye, arm…extra lens.
You’re excited about working in a creative business that straddles commercial and artistic practices. You enjoy proactively working with a problem-solving mindset to see opportunities that weren’t initially evident.
Photography Assistant
This is initially a freelance position. You have a keen interest, a well-developed eye, and an appreciation for detail, design, and art. You are familiar with the photography industry and want to expand your experience and knowledge.
You think working back-to-back days on set in remote locations sounds like fun.
For a candidate who demonstrates an aptitude, deep interest and growing skill set in the work we do, a longer-term opportunity may be offered to further develop their skill as a photographer.
Experience
- 1+ years of assisting experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in a creative course is a bonus (such as photography, filmmaking, creative arts, architecture or graphic design)
- No Architectural photography experience is required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- An appreciation for early mornings.
- You must own, or have reliable access to, a vehicle for transportation to the location.
- You must be able to carry sometimes significant weight through buildings or construction sites.
- You must be consistently punctual.
- You must be able to conduct oneself in a professional setting.
- You must be able to dress for a professional setting.
- Basic knowledge of Capture One for tethering on location is a bonus
- Basic knowledge of Profoto lighting equipment and other methods of sculpting light.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Readiness to travel locally and abroad
- Flexible schedule and prompt replies to confirmed bookings.
- Understand Australian Sarcasm (or at least be willing not to learn)
